April 11, 2022 - Daejeon
Hello again! Sorry for the long gap in emails; It's been some crazy busy 3 weeks. I'll start off by listing off a bunch of highlights:
Conference was incredible! My companion moved to 이천 (Icheon) and is now Zone Leader! My new companion is Elder 길강산 (Gil Gangsan), and he is awesome! Our recent convert is finishing his mission papers this week and being ordained an Elder!
Now that the rapid fire is out of the way I can give a more comprehensive email. Still don't have too much time though so I'm sure I will miss things haha.
Transfers happened, and they were busy busy busy! I am staying in Daejeon, but Elder Zito is gone now, which makes me sad and excited. They are also splitting the two Daejeon ward's sisters, so another set of sisters is coming to our district. We are getting pretty big! This past week was very adventurous, because my companion was acting Zone Leader for a zone he had never served in while living halfway across Korea. It was fun figuring out how to manage travel for all the missionaries and get a good plan rolling with them before he left. We also got to meet many of our teaching friends when they all suddenly stopped being "too busy" when they heard Elder Zito was leaving! It was really fun.
Saturday rolled around, and I had to say goodbye to Elder Zito and hello to Elder 길강산 (Gil Gangsan)! He is a stellar missionary, and we actually started our missions at the same time! He has been in the field for one transfer longer though, because he only attended the MTC for 3 weeks. He is a really fun, really really hard working missionary, and while I still don't know him well, I have no doubt we will serve well together. Serving with a Korean also changes the dynamics of many missionary activities, all the way down to how we work with members and how we meet new people, so there will be a lot to say in the coming weeks.
Also, General Conference was incredible! If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, please go take a look! It was very different than the first conference I watched here in Korea. Last time it felt like everything the prophets said was leaping out to me all in one go and I learned so much on the spot. This time though, I constantly felt that I really needed to continuously study these talks over time in order to get everything I need to out of it. The good news is that each talk is between 10 and 15 minutes, so studying one every day is easy! I am so grateful that we have so many wonderful mouthpieces of the Lord, and that we are able to so frequently hear from them
I have less time than I thought, so I'm afraid that's all the info you get this time! I hope you all have a fantastic week!
