Hello everyone! I hope this week's update finds you in good health! This week started off with interviews with President Sargent. As I continue to get to know my mission president I am more and more amazed at how perfect he is for his calling. His advice as well as words of encouragement were inspired, and I know he was called to his office by God. It was a great, full speed start to the week, and we kept that momentum going by immediately going on an exchange. This time I was with the one and only Elder Patterson! He is an amazing Elder, and even though we are both equally green, I learned a ton from him from little finding tips to larger work ethic ideologies. His area in 남원 (Namwan) is likely the most similar to my own area, but what him and Elder 황제하 have managed to accomplish over there is incredible. It was also a good taste test for the coming transfer, where I will be out of training and can't afford to be led around by the collar.
Immediately coming off the exchange, me and Elder 이현호 (Li) dove straight back into the work. On this week's agenda was navigating a minefield of member relations conundrums, and we managed to make it out the other end without blowing any of the mines too bad! We've found our way into a good spot with the 김제 (Gimje) branch, and going into this week we will be driving English Connect at full speed too! I will be in charge of that class, and it is certainly scary knowing I carry that responsibility! I have more sympathy for the teachers in the MTC now, and am so glad I have them as models for teaching a language, even if the nature of these classes are very different.
Saturday we had a stake sports activity, and it was really fun! We didn't get to stay long or do much because we had to be back in 김제 (Gimje) for a member fellowshipping activity of our own, but it was fun none-the-less. Our activity went well as well!
Honestly, as I approach the end of my training, I feel inadequate in just about every way, particularly with the language. There are so many great example missionaries in the mission, and sometimes it feels difficult to keep pace. There are so many things I want to be able to do right now, I just can't. But if there is anything I can do, it is to move forward with the faith that the Lord knew what I am capable of when he called me here. Life isn't always easy, and we might not always feel up to snuff with what is required of us, but that is the exact problem that the Atonement promises to overcome. We don't have to be perfect. We aren't even expected to be perfect. We can accomplish anything that is the will of the Lord if we work with the Lord. I may not have perfect confidence in myself, but I do have perfect confidence in my Savior Jesus Christ, and that is the only confidence any of us need to progress.
Keep fighting out there! 화이팅!
